What We Stand For

Free, and not for sale

This site is free to use. There are no ads. There are no sponsored listings. No venue can pay to rank higher, and none ever will. If a place appears near the top, it is because it is relevant to what you searched for, not because money changed hands.

We say this plainly because the ordinary way of doing things online is the opposite, and we are tired of it. Most directories are advertising with a search box bolted on. The information is bait; the product is your attention, sold on. We are not interested in running that business.

Against the enclosure of quiet

There is something worth resisting in the way rest gets turned into a market. Every calm thing eventually attracts someone who wants to fence it off, brand it, and sell it back to you at a markup. Bathing is old, common, and human. It does not belong to a subscription tier.

We are not against people making an honest living. Venues charge for entry; that is fair, and running a bathhouse is real work. What we object to is the machinery built on top of ordinary needs: the upsells, the manufactured scarcity, the pressure, the sense that you are being worked on. None of that is welcome here.

Who is not welcome

We will keep this direct. Racists are not welcome. Fascists are not welcome. People who build their wealth by exploiting others are not welcome. A bathhouse at its best is a place where everyone is equal, stripped of status and doing the same simple thing. We are not going to build a guide to those places and then hand it to people who want the opposite for the world.

If that costs us some visitors, we will manage.

What we are for

We are for public calm, honest information, and keeping a good thing freely shared. That is the whole of it. Use the directory, find somewhere to bathe, and be decent to the people in the water beside you.
